My front door (i rent) has a a gap along the edge of the door on the side with the door knob. Do they make anything I can attach to the side of the door to block that gap? It also allows the cool air from the AC to escape during the hot summer months.
If the gap is not due to the door being a little narrow and leaving a gap, any sealing done on the door frame probably isn't going to do very much good. If that is where the gap is though, some simple stick on foam or rubber sealing tape will work just fine. They have different kinds for different sized gaps. Just make sure you don't get something that will stick to the door, they make stuff that tends to stick like that and it will tear off and get messy.
If the door is just a little too narrow you can find a rubber flap that attaches to the door and covers the gap from the inside. They are very effective, last for a very long time and can be adjusted if the gap changes. These are usually the stick on kind but the better ones are attached with screws because they have a backing that allows for the adjustment. They are very easy to install.
Whatever you do, stay away from sealants that come in a tube, they aren't easy to use the for gap you are describing and can be very messy.
The cost to fix the gap problem you describe shouldn't be more than $10.
