It fascinates me that anyone believes that one cannot be both a Conservative and concerned about our environment. Stating that one does not believe in the politicized version of global warming does not make them care less about the environment. Stating that one wants smaller government and believes cap and trade is a fricken joke does not make one care less about the environment. Stating that one believes hunting is okay, even if they don't practice it themselves, does not make one care less about the environment, OR, for that matter, less about wildlife. Failing to understand that we are not going to sit back and accept "well whatever, we have a big government now", and that we will continue to work on getting the big, over bloated, greedy, non caring government who does nothing but make it all worse out of the way, also means that the person does not comprehend that the PEOPLE have a lot of power. The people can make a difference by not supporting companies that cause damage to the environment. We don't need a "parent" (government) to do the work for us. That does not make a Conservative care less about the environment, it's actually that they care MORE.

I've seen the devastation that the government has done to the Everglades, along with the enviroidiots who decided to kill animals and destroy natural nesting spots in their desire to build a non needed ugly bridge. But according to some, that means Conservatives care less about the environment. I cared a whole hell of a lot more than those jerks did every time I passed yet another dead animal, thanks to those idiots.

I didn't even get past this part, because the entire thing is flawed when a person believes that Conservatives don't care about the environment. All those who talk like that need to give it a rest.

Weren't Conservatives in league with developers who are in favor of draining the Everglades?

What has REALLY killed the Eveglades is stupid people releasing their pet pythons into the wild. No government small or big could prevent that.

Correct, plenty of conservatives care about the environment. Unfortunately once elected, republicans (let alone conservatives) consistently vote against measures that are good for the environment, and they protect corporations that are bad for the environment. I see this consistently in the reports of all my environmental charities and in my reading of various scientific sources.

So you don't have to feel bad about your lifestyle but if you vote Republican locally or for POTUS, you are doing your part to hasten the demise of our flora and fauna.

Yeah, that doesn't help, either.

How is cap and trade good for the environment?

Government sets the allowed level of pollution. If for example that level is 10% below current emissions all current emission permit holders get allowances for 90% of current emissions. Holders of permit trade emission credits among self. See SOx and NOx trading program at EPA. It is their most effective program.

BTW Republicans recommended cap and trade to allow market forces to allocate pollution permits. It's a very cost effective idea.

Actually that does very little to damage the everglades. It may affect indigenous species.
