I would bet for the long drives you would either - buy water to bring along - fill up a canteen or other re useable bottle(s). I find that usually where I am ending up has water available. For the daily grind, as an example my kids use aluminum and/or insulated bottles for the "long walk" to and from school. (and at school). They have several so we can put them in the dishwasher.

For the times of the year were we are going on long drives - we buy and bring drinks in a cooler with us, just like everyone else does. I think the OP intent was at home bottled water drinking anyways...
