it might have worked for you but I cook better than my wife and if I want steak, I'm buying and cooking it myself.

When I cook dinner I make separate vegetarian food for the wife and girls and meat dishes for me and my son. I have seen the reduction in muscle mass in my wife. she's vegetarian for almost 10 years now. used to be she was strong as a horse and now can barely lift the heavier stuff.
I was thinking that too. Poor guy is going to have to pay a carbon tax for driving to McDonalds everyday.

I just thought of something. A local restaurant is cooking its award winning burger at James Beard in NYC. They mix half finely chopped mushrooms with burger in their hamburgers. Worth a try.

That sounds good. When I am dieting, I make chicken burgers from scratch and they tend to be dry so I add moisture by grating zuccini into it. I'm going to try adding finely chopped mushrooms in too!

I've tried burgers with half real meat and half substitute meat and it's really not bad. lowering meat by cutting it up and putting it in a stir fry works great too.

My wife and I are more agreeable to each other. She'll cook me meat and I'll cook her vegetarian. I've tried going vegetarian but the high carbs low fat are worse for me since I'm diabetic.

Do you realize how much water is used to produce a small amount of meat? How much waste with its attendant gases is involved with just one cow or pig, never mind the number needed to feed our country's insatiable desire for meat? It might be about moderation, but we as a country are not about that at all.

I hope that you all feel like eating what YOU like to eat justifies the suffering of the animals and the waste of the planet's resources.
1. You should be more culturally sensitive.
2. Your "wasting water"....um....the MS river dumps 600,000 cubic feet of water PER SECOND. There is plenty of water in the US...it's not the fault of agriculture but of people wanting to live in deserts lol.
3. If we all switched to vegie diets, good news! We'll be able to add another 10billion people to the planet.
Unless you have a plan for that?

The first 2-3 days he reacted nicely saying things like “Thank you darling but… where is the real food here?” and after dinner he ended up eating a lot of bread, cookies or chocolate. Can you believe I was so stupid that once for dinner I prepared boiled potatoes and cabbage only? And I was pretending he liked it? Ok please, stop laughing at me! After that lame attempt the bloodthirsty beast inside of him came out scaring the nagging wife away.
You need to learn some people skills. Pick up a Dale Carnegie book and apply the wisdom within.

So I'm assuming you mean me - and no, I'm not a vegetarian. I'm vegan. But in any case, no guilt trips to be served up by me. The misinformation in this thread is staggering, as is the pro-meat culture, so I'm sure I will not be the one to educate any of you muscle-bound meat eaters. Lol.

Actually, you have educated me. So farmed animals are not abused, got it. And the Holocaust never happened. And there is no global warming. Wow, look at how much I've learned in such a short time! I've learned so much that I don't have to come back to this thread at all, which is fine with me, because I'm not only against eating animals, I'm allergic to ignorance.

You want to eat nothing but veggies and pills all your life, go for it. I shall pass on the multiple supplements you have to take to make up for what you miss out by not eating meat, and just eat meat. A human body needs both meat and veggies to survive properly. Now I will say this, I am not against someone choosing to only eat veggies, it is their choice to do so. I am however against those vegetarians/vegans (sorry I honestly don't know the difference) who go around and throw fits about those of us that eat meat, and have all sorts of guilt trips to his us with every time they get a chance. I am the kind of person that guilt trips don't make me feel guilty, they make me mad as hell. All your guilt trip makes me want to do is eat a giant steak in front of you, just to annoy you.

Also. Called it.

i want to be a vegan and i'm trying this. I think you can't stop him from eating meat immeadiately. Step by step reduce the amount of meat he consumes, find vegetable recipes from web.
I think Vegetarian is more delicious than just boiled vegetable ( you can get some recipes from Vegetarian & Vegan Recipes | Food | Living | PETA - this site is very popular)
