Exactly.

They think they know what's good for us better than we do. They look down their Liberal noses with an upturned lip at us like we're stupid.

Carter thanks God Obama was elected-- now he's no longer the last one on the list.

Neither cares enough to even notice much less look down his nose at you.

You're running out of time. But who knows? He may make it to 100. I think there's a lot to what they say about staying professionally active through old age; it keeps you mentally active and functional, and that helps keep you young, so to speak.

Carter is very personable. He spoke at the university where I worked, and the department that invited him was in the same building as mine. One of our staff ran into him exiting the elevator, and reacted with a very surprised, big grin. Carter was very friendly and nice. A very approachable guy.

I always thought Jimmy Carter got a bad rap as president. He inherited a country that was in a pretty severe recession, and wasn't hawkish on foreign policy when that was the prevailing attitude. The thing that hurt his presidency the most was the failed rescue mission of the Iran hostages, Operation Eagle Claw.

His legacy will be his post-presidency life. Seems like a decent, admirable man.

Interesting fact is that Carter established Delta Force and Operation Eagle Claw was Delta's first mission. The recap of the failed mission highlighted the need to have a special forces airlift capability and led to establishment of the Nightstalkers. For those who blame the failed mission on Carter, whom better to pick than Delta? The SEALs did not yet have a team specializing in hostage rescue.
