Situated on 10 acres, the 1.3-megawatt project will provide more than half of the power needs of Plains, Georgia.

Building on a clean energy legacy that includes installing the first thermal solar panels on the roof of the White House, former President Jimmy Carter is bringing the renewable energy revolution to his hometown of Plains, Georgia.

This guy is so amazing! He just keeps on truckin', always active in a variety of endeavors aimed at improving life on Earth. He's 92, people, and still not losing steam! Even cancer didn't stop him.

Well said.
Regardless of what you think of his politics, you have to give him credit and respect.

All good. Killing deer is a social benefit. They spread disease.

Solar arrays do have their issues (one odd one that caught my eye was combustion of birds flying too closely overhead), but the same ingenious minds that created them can probably find ways to fix them. Yes, they take up space, yes, they reduce habitat. There are ways to make use of the land underneath the arrays if designed correctly. I guess I consider solar one of several sustainable sources of energy....they are appropriate for some places but not others. Knowing the thoughtful man Mr. Carter is, I'm sure he considered the alternatives.

And they taste good.

However, I have about as much respect for Carter as I do for Obama and it is ZERO!

I agree. A life's work means more than some 4 year stint in the WH. I suspect a life focused on the needs of others is a good way to face cancer too. Probably the only high profile publicly elected figure I would really like to meet.

Neither of them have any respect for you. All is good.
