This solar roof looks amazing. Price is currently outrageous. However compared to current solar energy panels these panels look amazing on the roof. Team this up with PowerWall and self sufficient energy source.

Someone is finally "getting it", thankfully. Now if only the price is reasonable by the time we're ready to build our retirement house!

New technology is always expensive. I hope Musk can keep it viable long enough to get prices down.

They wanted over $250,000 for my house.... they are nuts... I will be dead before prices are even in the ballpark... 71k credit brings price down to 180k.... still too much money but someone is buying... apparently the roof tiles are sold out till 2018...

I wouldn't do anything with Tesla. Look at the problems he has with his cars with customer service. It's a bad company. It says they have a long warranty. Is that still good of his company goes bust/ I don't trust that man as far as I can throw him.

They came 2.5 hours to pick up my friends car for service. Flatbedded a loaner and placed his on the truck to take back for service.

Pretty impressive.

I wonder how much of the cost effectiveness of Mr. Musk's solar roofing is due to the regulation requiring utilities to pay solar contributors full value for their solar contributions while eating the costs that come with the unpredictability of solar power? Basically the solar contributors gets a bit of a free ride off the utility. I think that if they got paid the minute by minute market rate for power, solar roofs would be a much worse investment.

I think the best way to do solar is in a dedicated solar farm where angles and other factors are optimized.

I think there is a TED talk with Elon Musk being interviewed. He mentions this technology as well as his idea to drill large tunnels under major cities to take some of the traffic off the streets.
