Has anyone seen the plastic bags put out by Good Sense Earth Sense? I have a box of 13 gallon plastic bags that are made from 60% recycled plastic and at least 10% post-consumer material. They smell a bit funky when you first open them but they work great! I highly recommend!
Uh..., the bags are still plastic, recycled or not!
True, but the plastic is already out there, we can't stop something that's already happened. Why not try to keep it from landing in a dump where it does no one any good? Small steps are better than no steps.

Trust me, it seems to be my number one hobby finding a happy medium between non-recyclers to the eco-savvy. Though I'll be moving to Alaska as of Thursday, I currently live in Little Rock, Arkansas where words like 'natural' and 'organic' are evil. Earth Day came about and it was the small changes that my friends really couldn't even see that they actually put into effect. I'll take what little changes I can get! Even if they still call me a hippie...

More like going home from a culture shock! I sadly left a sleepy town of 200 in Vermont three years ago to come down to Arkansas... THAT was a culture shock! Now I'm just going home to my North again. FAR North...

Reminds me of the Johnny Horton song from the 60"s, "Going north to Alaska, home of Russia's own"! Good luck!
We have Aldi's here in SE Michigan. They started somewhere in Ohio. The bags I use are from Meijer's. Meijer's started in Western Michigan and has expanded into Northern Ohio and possibly Indiana. It is like a Wal-Mart Super Center or a Super K-Mart, although I think it is higher quality.
It actually started in Germany.
I loved it in Indiana, but none here in Texas. The ones I've been to (indiana and UK) have been much smaller than Super Walmarts though, closer to a Trader Joe's.
1: Plastic bags cause less envirormental problems in land fills than paper bags.
2: Plastic bags take up a lot less area in land fills than paper bags. A number of plastic bags take the same amount of room as 1 paper bag, allowing the land fill to not be filled up as fast.
When asked, Paper or Plastic. Be more evironmental and say Plastic every time.
