I guessed you missed the part that the solar panels will ONLY power the AC part of the car... it really doesn't "add" anything to justify the increase in prices but it is symbolic though...
They barte havign problems keeping the bateries charged is why. Alot of owners are reporting problems with the batteries pack. Its becoime a real headache for some it seems. I can imagine with teh problems we have with disposing echargable batteries in small devices the probl;ems a larger number of Hybrids will bring. Batteries packs have alot of problems if you have evry worked with them much.
Well hopefully they will see my wishlist for a plug-in Prius with a range of 30 PURE electric even though I know they can do better.
Whoever makes the most affordable plug-in hybrid that can meet the needs of most consumers will be rich.

When they can balance the need to have vehicles that double as the family "car" and be large enough to carry Mom and Dad and the 3 or 4 kids and the Dog and then also be able to be used as the work "truck" - and have that work "truck" be able to haul over a ton of stuff, or pull a 10,000 lb load, yet still be "lightweight" -
Then maybe - you will convince people to go "light"
