Well better get used to them, as incandescent bulb will be banned in the US starting in 2012 for 100W and 2014 for all wattage's.

I have to say that the bulbs sying they are eaul to the satndrad bulbs wattage IMO is just not right really. They basically give alot less lighting to the eye which is what counts.

Evidently they don't light the keyboard too well either.

My wife hates them. She told me not to buy any of them again. They definitely don't produce the equivalent amount of light that they claim to produce.

Since I bought a bunch of them I'm using them in utility areas where they are on for longer periods of time and the quality of the light is not as important.

I'm starting to see LED lights available (last weekend at Costco), more energy savings then the CFL's and longer lasting. Anyone have any experience with those?

This is probably a stupid question, but are you aware that you can get different kinds of CFL bulbs? The lower the Kelvin Rating, the more yellow the light will be. The higher rating will be for bulbs that are almost blue in their intensity.

We have the lower Kelvin CFL bulbs in all of our "living areas" in the house. The brighter ones are in my garage, etc.

Everybody is happy.

All the lights in my living room and most the lights in my bedroom are CFL. I hate them. The light is harsh on many of them, some of them take 3 to 5 minutes to fully warm up and illuminate, the supposedly dimmer-compatible ones are worthless, and two of them have burned out well short of their supposed life span. And on top of it, I have noticed approximately zero savings on my electric bill. Each one that burns out will be replaced with a traditional incandescent for as long as the government, in its infinite benevolence, will allow it.
