Yesterday I got a glossy, roughly two by three foot sized, useless map of the USA from the Sierra Club. It is colorful, but has no real value whatsoever. Included are two years' worth of tiny calendars, also on glossy type paper, although recycled. The sales letter is on heavy card stock, not regular paper. This reminds me of the endless preprinted address labels I get in the mail that I don't ask for, along with a request for a donation. Conservation anyone?
The Sierra club is like Peta and Human Society among a long list of others. It has the agenda's that are on parade for the public to milk money out for bogus ideals presented. And in the backroom is various buddy deals, side deals and the true agendas. If anyone will take the time to dig, you can find out a lot about these fakes. Most are for good intending people with little attention spans and easy money giving wanting a fast "feel good" feeling without doing much to tax themselves, and have something to boast with their friends about so they can be part of the in crowd also.
I take the original envelope, the glossy enclosure(s), the return mail poll card, the donation appealing letter, etc, etc, and manage to stuff them all into the prepaid business return envelope (the one that asks you to use your own stamp - I let them pay). I have a rubber stamp that has a tree with a face holding up his "arms," that says "Help! Save a Tree! Take Me Off Of Your Mailing List!" I stamp the fat envelope all over and send it back.
Back in the pre-recycle days, and before I got the stamp, I used to write on the envelope "Put this in your landfill, not mine."
You know I haven't used that stamp for a couple of years. I used to get a lot of stuff but no more. Guess the stamp worked. I work for and support local activities where I can see the results.
You can also sign up at Catalog Choice - Control the catalogs you receive in the mail for free to request catalos stop being sent to you. And I am pretty sure I saw Sierra Club as one of the choices. I really like the stamp idea though, pretty cool.
I just had to chime in to say that I misread the subject line as "Anyone else get a useless MAN from the Sierra Club?" LOL!
