Hi! I am trying to find a bakery in W-S that makes tres leches cakes. I understand they sell it by the slice at Hutch and Harris downtown, as well as at the ethnic grocery store off Silas Creek Pkwy (Compare Foods...?), but I can't seem to find a "latin" (i.e., South American/Mexican) bakery in town.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Default Try La Espiga in north Winston.

Have you ever tried La Espiga? It is located in the shopping center in the corner of University Parkway and Bethabara Park Blvd. They make fresh mexican style bread and cakes, too. Last time I bought a 3 leches cake from them was for my daughter's second birthday, and believe me, it was soo good! It didn't last long!

The owners are from Tacambaro, Mexico wich is known for good bread. Their family has been on this business for several generations.

Let me know what you think of this place.

Default Bakery moving to High Point.

There's some news about this bakery. We just went the other day to order a cake for my birthday. They took our order and we already got the cake, but they told us that they are moving their business to High Point. I think they had some issues with the owner of the shopping center or something like that. I feel bad about it because I haven't found any other place in north Winston that makes fresh authentic mexican style bread.

They told me they are moving to 111 Main St in High Point. That's too far for me, but I think their son has a bakery somewhere near Waughtown.

Anyways, good luck with your search of a "3 leches" cake.

Default 5 star bakery

If you are still interested in "3 leches" cakes, I just found the phone number of the 5 star bakery. It belongs to the son and I'm pretty sure of the quality. You can call him at 336-287-1179, or 336-624-2825. The bakery is located inside the 5 star super market, but it is an independent business. It's not the best area in town, but the cakes are great!
