Hi there,

My husband is taking a job in Winston-Salem and I have been reading threads on the area. I have not been able to come upon many that talk about the schools and neighborhoods. We will be moving with our children and our oldest will be starting kindergarten. We would like a neighborhood with really good schools and good pre-schools in the area. Would also like an area that has a nice community, like pools/parks places to go with the kids. Can someone give me an idea where to look. Thanks a bunch.

Ideally we would like a house around 2,500 sq. ft and a big fenced in yard if this helps!

Thanks for any help!

Areas with young families, nice homes and things to do with children include the Ardmore and Sherwood Forest areas of Winston Salem and the towns of Clemmons and Kernersville. Areas within the city that are nice will also be more pricey. Each area has good schools, as well. Look up school results at ncreportcard.org to locate top schools to help narrow your search. Good luck with your move, it's a beautiful area!

Clemmons is nice area. Also Thomasville, north eastern part of Davidson County. I suggest you stay away from the "city" limits of W/S-Forsyth County unless you move near the Sherwood Forest/Co. Club area which is of course the priciest area. A house that size with that size yard is possible however prices will vary depending on if you want vinyl siding house or mostly brick/stone house. Good luck!!
