I recently moved into a small 2 BR single level condo in W-S, and would like to have my 25 yr old chimney inspected - does anyone have any good reccomendations, and that are reasonably priced and certified? I just want to know if it's safe to have a basic wood burning fire in it this winter.........

Thanks all!

There are many in the phone book. I would call and ask them their service call price and insurance and licenses info. You can also check with the BBB. They can shed some light for you. As for burning a fireplace. I guess the first question is. Why? As a heat source it is not very efficient. I would look into a gas log or heating unit. If you own the condo. If not, may want to check with the owner. They may be will to split the cost if you leave them in the unit.

That sounds good - thank you very much - I did find one in W-S which is highly rated and certified by the non profit national group of certified chimney sweeps - I do know it's not a good heat source - no, it's mainly for effect since i am home allot.....I've always enjoyed the look/smell, and sounds of a nice fire crackling, and actually figured I would use the logs you can buy at the store, rather than regular wood....still, I want to be sure it is safe - no, I do not own it, and do not plan on staying for an extremely long period of time, but just thought it would be a nice way to enjoy being at home this winter - thanks again for your help!
