Greensboro is like living in Mayberry. It's not bad here at all. all cities have crime and Greensboro isn't immune, but compared to other cities the same size (sometimes even smaller) this is Mayberry. There are too many "old heads" here unwilling to do the things to attract the wrong types of people here. The city stops running at 9pm for pete's sake!! Of course there's an influx of crime during the holiday season, but use common sense about the steps you make. And these 3 or 4 unsolved homicides are probably domestic...it's not random acts of violence. Most people who are murdered know the assailant. I'm not saying that things don't happen here because they do, but Greensboro is too old and laid back for more crime to occur

to sum this all up BIGGER CITY BIGGER PROBLEMS no greensboro aint that big but with over 258,000 people yea it can get crazy high point on the other had had 11 murders in 2008 but i think they keep their problems out of the sopt light with the media unlike greensboro really

It really depends on who is reporting. A couple of years ago Fox8 did a story about a fight at Central High School, not a gang fight, gun or knife fight, just a fight and boy did Fox really blow it out of proportion.

Most of the crime in the 'boro is tied to the sale of crack cocaine. Alot of the " gang activity " and shootings that accompany it are really just drug rivalries that are related either to territory or unpaid debts. Of course, where you have crack addiction, you will also see and upswing in prostitution and burglaries as addicts seek a way to pay for their habit. Luckily, most of the crime related to this is confined to areas of the city where crack is sold, which are primarily the neighborhoods that surround the housing projects on the east side of the city.
