Winston-Salem-based tobacco maker Reynolds American Inc. will cut 540 jobs, or nearly 10% of its workforce, by the end of 2014. The move will reduce spending by $70 million a year by 2015. Most of the cuts will be in Forsyth County, the company said.

This should demonstrate to corporate tax cut advocates even if the company makes a profit a demand for product is still key for jobs.
