Montlieu Area in downtown High Point (houses, neighborhood, university)

We are looking at a house on Montlieu Ave near Main St. in dowtown High Point...how is the neighborhood...good, bad, transitioning?

I would definately avoid anything other than a select few small areas in downtown High Point. Montlieu is definately one of the worse areas from what I've seen and heard.

Most of Monteliu is not in a good part of town. There is a very small section that is historical with nice houses, but everything around it is not good. It is also close to High Point University, but don't let that fool you. It's kind of a joke seeing all the expansion going on at the University while the surrounding neighborhood is in despair. Several of HPU's fraternaty houses have been sold due to gang activity.

My advise: Keep looking!
