Hi. I have recently been contacted by Industries of the Blind, Inc (which is based in Greensboro) about a possible job opening/training. I was wondering which areas/neighborhoods are the closest to the company, they are located on Lee Street. Any suggestions, I'd be grateful for.

Thanks.

Glenwood is just to the south. It's a pretty rough area...crime,etc... Just to the north across the train tracks is UNCG.

There are nicer neighborhoods to the west, north and east of UNCG. If you are looking for apartments and home rentals there are a lot of choices.

Glenwood is a lower working class neighborhood.

The area of Glenwood that is problematic for crime spills into the Section 8 Housing that is on Florida St, at the intersection of Freeman-Mill Rd. You will see a decent police presence in this area though during the day. As always, exercise caution when walking at night, no matter where you are.

If you're closer to Lee St and Glenwood that's along the College Hill area, you're going to find working class, students, and young professionals/artists. Glenwood gets a bad wrap in GSO but most of it is old and no longer true. More and more artists are moving into the area and UNCG is buying up more and more property encouraging students and the younger crowd to move in, though for now the students moving in are generally in their mid to late 20s, with more and more early 30s as well.
