property has been sold making way for a 4 acre mixed-use downtown project across from NewBridge Bank Ballpark. The anchor of the development will be an 8-story 100 room hotel. The hotel brand name and details of the development have not been publicly announced. (Im hoping it will be an Aloft or Element hotel). And just maybe they'll be another midrise/highrise structure in the development. The hotel is one of two downtown hotels that will be constructed over the next year or two. The other is a Wyndham luxury hotel that will be at least 12-stories. Construction on both projects will take place during the construction period of the performing arts center and an adjoining urban park. There will be a lot of construction cranes in downtown Greensboro between the end of this year and 2016.
I thought the wyndham was 8 stories ontop of a 6 story parking deck?
Either way, Great news for Downtown Greensboro.
They have reduced the number of parking deck levels now that the city wont build the parking deck portion, at least thats the latest I've heard. Having a hotel brand like that certainly helps the image of downtown and its nice to see a new tall addition to Greensboro's skyline.

Hell it's nice to see anything new in downtown Greensboro, Will be a nice anchor for that gap massive in the skyline.
that would be a decent presence in Greensboro's skyline height wise. I did see original plans that called for an eight or nine story deck under an ten story hotel. This could have been an 18 or 19 story structure. But I'll take 12 to 14 stories.
