North State announced GIGABIT service availability for both business and residential customers last week, in it's traditional service area (High Point, Thomasville, Archdale, Trinity, etc.) as well as parts of Greensboro and Winston Salem!
Check out their website to see if your area is included in their fiber build. This is a phased build out, so if your area isn't served now, it doesn't mean it won't be later.

My house in Thomasville will be served in the middle of November. I currently have 80/30 service with them and I'm definitely looking forward to the gigabit!

I ran into an AT&T contractor Thursday. They said they planned to cover the whole city in fiber in a couple of years, though it probably won't be the good fiber. I just hope they can beat the Comcast/TWC merger, as I want nothing to do with Comcrap.
