By Boston or DC standards it's (still) a cakewalk.

The far larger concern with the road is the due east/west rising/setting sun in your face issues.
Do what you can to live EAST of the workplace destination.

Is it? It's far better than some of the traffic you'll encounter around Charlotte or the Triangle. There are occasional periods of stop-and-go, but full-on gridlock is rare (and when it is you can usually find an alternate route if you plan ahead).
