We live just south of Winston-Salem, but we're going to be staying in Greensboro this weekend for our anniversary. We'll be close to Lee Street, not far from Natty Greene's. I'm looking for a quiet restaurant (not a chain) for a nice meal.

We're fairly simple in our food choices - traditional steak/chicken/fish. I'd probably like a nice steak; wife would probably like fish, perhaps salmon. We're not connoisseurs by any means.

Any suggestions in or around this area? TIA

Happy Anniversary!

I've been to Liberty Oak recently and enjoyed it. If you want to drive, Printworks Bistro at the Proximity Hotel is romantic and Frenchy.

Look at the menus. If those don't work, tell me why and I'll make other recs.

"Frenchy" works for us for ambiance, but not the food. lol
Both look good. I've been wanting to check out the Proximity Hotel.
Leaning towards Printworks Bistro. Thank you!

Thanks.

We decided to get away for a long weekend and let you teenage daughter stay at home alone for the first time (yikes!). She was looking forward to it, but a friend just invited her to join her at the beach for the weekend. So we would have the house to ourselves anyway. Oh well...we would lose most of what we paid for the lodging if we cancelled now.

Table 16 might be a good choice, very close to where you will be. Food is excellent.

Try B Christopher's on Elm, they are located on the ground floor of Center Pointe condos. I have not dined there so this is not a recommendation. There is also the Undercurrent located on Battleground Ave behind the Marriot, it is upscale and great food. Check out the menu at the Kosary, it's new and I haven't been there yet, but it has a small dining room so it should be quiet(er).
Since you're staying the weekend I will strongly suggest making a stop at Dame's Chicken and Waffles. I love that place!
Green Valley grill is next to Printworks, Lucky 32 (another favorite of mine) is not far from either. Lucky has a large dining area, but the acoustics are well dampened.
Happy anniversary!

Heh heh.

Lucky 32's outdoor seating is nice too. If the weather holds that would be great.
