I'm from Wilkesboro, NC originally but have lived in Charlotte for the last four years and in Raleigh for about five or six years prior to Charlotte.
I realize there are not any larger towns, much less cities, north of Greensboro/Burlington. However, I was wondering what would be a decent location to live in if I don't want a horrible commute to work in Wentworth/Reidsville, but still wanted to be close enough to Greensboro and Burlington to have something to do on the weekends. Want an area that has a minimum of a grocery store, and preferably a gym nearby.
Any thoughts? I am not familiar with the mid-north region of the Piedmont and have no idea about any of the surrounding towns in that area.
Where exactly are you working? There isn't much to choose from other than Reidsville, or the north side of Greensboro. Summerfield is an option, but depending on where you're working, north G'boro may be closer. If the job is in Reidsville, I'd look for something around the Battleground/Lawndale Corridor, maybe near Cone Blvd. You could take Cone Blvd. to Hwy 29 and scoot up to Reidsville. If its in Wentworth, you could look further out Battleground (which becomes Summerfield) and then go up 220 to Hwy. 65 to get to W'worth.
I agree. I work in Wentworth sometimes and I live off Battleground near Cone Blvd. It takes about 30 minutes. 220 is under construction right now so I avoid it.
