Although we are currently over in the Raleigh area we are looking to move more west. Are there areas of WS or Greensboro that are more suitable for retirees? Close to medical and shopping. Easy access to freeways. We would look for a single family home 3/3 and min. 2100 sq.ft. Hopefully with no association fee or at least a reasonable amount. Thankx

Bermuda Run in Davie County has homes in a wide range of prices and styles. Great area for retirees.

I don't know about BR. I live in BR and more and more families are moving into the area. The age of the area is getting younger

Thank you. We are looking at $220k with a little wiggle room.

Look at the west and northwest parts of both G'boro and W-S. Your budget is a little low, but there are houses out there. You may not get 3 baths, or 2,100 sf. Here area few examples of well located homes:

220K will be hard to find a house in BR in that price range. You might find a few smaller houses at around 2000 to 2200 sf in the Kinderton Village neighborhood in BR

I am also looking for a place West of W/S NC near a YMCA, and out enough to not be in traffic. Would do a condo or small house. Any Idea of a Good Retiree Area?

What are the things you like about Winston Salem?

Any trains going north to PA?

I have family in Ashville, so would not want the other side of the city.

Mocksville is worth a look.

Big enough to have things to do, but no huge traffic issues. Great revitalized downtown. Strong arts offerings. Beautiful neighborhoods. Good restaurants and shopping. Close to the mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway.

Closest Amtrak stations are in Kannapolis, High Point and Greensboro.
