What is everyones general opinion on north Winston? I find it to be pretty underrated on paper but I would love to hear the opinion of others.

When I say North Winston, I am referring to up 52 between King and Pilot Mountain. As long as you're not far from 52 the commute to Winston is very do-able, the taxes are lower (Stokes/Surry) and the schools are generally pretty good.

It's a scenic area due to being in the Foothills with views of Pilot Mountain depending on you're exact location. There's not a huge economy on its own and many people commute to Winston-Salem for jobs. King (in Southwest Stokes County) is mainly a bedroom community that feels very suburban and then up towards Pilot Mountain (in Southeast Surry County) the area feels very rural with fewer urban/suburban amenities. That area as a whole is much more socially conservative than Winston-Salem proper, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective.

By the way, I don't think of that area as "north Winston" since it's in two entirely different counties than Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, so when you say "North Winston" most people are going to be thinking about the area north of downtown around University Parkway and up towards Smith Reynolds Airport which has an entirely different feel and demographics.

Thanks. Yeah, I understand the confusion, I guess 'of' would have been a good word in between.

I appreciate your comments!
