Hello all,
My daughter is participating in an internship in downtown Winston Salem and we are in need of some guidance regarding temporary housing (summer months). We have looked at The Nissen Building, Deacon Place, and Hill Top...................was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as my daughter is going to be housing independently and her first time away from home in a "big city". Willing to drive from surrounding areas just want someplace safe.
Thank you.

Can't she get housing assistance/guidance from whomever she's interning with?
If the job is downtown, the Nissen Building would be ideal, as she could walk to work, to restaurants, to entertainment, etc.
Hilltop certainly looks nice, and I have no qualms about the location. I don't know anything about Deacon Place, other than its a relatively long way from downtown.
Yes, Nissen would be very convenient if her internship is downtown. Hilltop, as well, depending on where the internship is located. Both are nice and neither is in a problematic area. I can't speak to Deacon Place, as I don't know anything about it, but will say that it would be far less convenient than the others.
And beyond the usual safety tips that any young person should have for any area (be aware of your surroundings, don't walk alone late at night if it can be avoided, etc.), there's not a lot of special care needed to get by in Winston. Downtown--and most of the areas your daughter would likely end up in--are pretty nice and pretty safe.
