Great news. It will be located in High Point near the Greensboro city limits. It will incorporate residential as well as a hotel.
This news combined with the Centric Brands announcement is evidence that Greensboro/High Point is transitioning to a fast growth area with higher paying jobs. Also the potential of the SunTrust Mortgage announcement which will lead to Greensboro having the mortgage headquarters for the new bank being formed in Charlotte between SunTrust and BB&T.
Winston is really struggling right now when it comes to job creation and getting companies to bring jobs to the city limits
It has been a little while since Winston-Salem has had a major job announcement, but I wouldn't say they're falling behind. The 600 (or so) job expansion of National General was a big win. Especially since those are jobs that pay pretty well ($50k+).

"The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that we created more than 5,300 new jobs (in 2018). BLS also reports that since 2010, Winston Salem has added more than 28,000 jobs. This is a good indication of a strong and growing economy."

See, i don't get all this doom & gloom for winston, they are doing just fine. But i guess since the media blew up the coverage internationally of the BB&T and suntrust merger, people are just automatically assuming winston is dying... which is not the case.
But personally i think it's because greensboro has been getting all of the economic announcment coverage recently.

That's just it. Winston-Salem has been in the news with the loss of BB&T and Krispy Kreme of late. But KK isn't a huge number of jobs and they're keeping a presence. It's too early to know about BB&T, but again, it's not like thousands of jobs are likely to be lost. That said, it's probable that many of the higher paying jobs will leave (many of BB&T's higher paying jobs were already in Charlotte/Raleigh though).
National General was a big win. Otherwise, job growth has been a result of small increases that tend to be buried in the news or go unreported altogether.
Massive research development in Guilford County closer to reality. The mixed-use research park will have 1.3 million square feet of office space. That's equivalent to six 20 story office towers filled with research related jobs. This is a huge deal for High Point and Greensboro.
Triad credit union says funding regional economic development is priority I thought this was a cool article about a few new projects in the area. But most important in this was this line.
"We really work hard to establish linkages between Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem, if we really want to compete more effectively with Charlotte and Triangle," Peter said. "We will only achieve that on an integrated basis.
