UNC-G, Winston-Salem State and A&T have cancelled classes tomorrow (Monday). Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools are on a 2 hour delay. Unbelievable.

There are multiple places in Forsyth County where flooding has made roads impassable. I have no problem with them taking whatever time is needed to reroute buses and to make sure student and parent drivers have a safe path to school. Why is that so unbelievable?

I don't understand the pissing and moaning about the schools closing? Just get over it. Some of these universities are closed today in order to allow their students to safely travel back to school. A lot of those kids left school last week to be with their families. A lot of these schools closed due to the state and various cities and counties declaring a state of emergency, which often will prompt school systems to close. Hurricanes are very unpredictable, and anybody thinking they *knew* things weren't going to be that bad are flat out lying. It is always better to err on the side of caution than it is to defiantly assume things won't be bad. The hurricane was originally predicted to go straight toward us, and even when it was forecast to take a turn south, the absolute track was not determined until later in the week, and that turn south still put the Piedmont in the danger zone, albeit not quite like it would've been had the storm kept it's original track, but bad enough to have caused a lot of damage.

I was out in the storm last night tending to an emergency at work. It wasn't exactly an afternoon rain shower, it was pretty rough. They were still calling for close to 10 inches of rain, even on Saturday. No doubt there are areas around the Piedmont Triad today that are probably flooded. We got pretty lucky, and I would think instead of bitching about what others did to prepare for what could have been, we should be thankful we didn't get it nearly as bad as predicted.

I don't understand using terms like pissing, bitching and moaning to describing people expressing their opinion. But then again, some people can't handle healthy debate or ideas contrary to their own. Oh well.

What others do for themselves to ensure they're prepared for whatever emergency may arise should not even be up for debate. It is their choice, not yours. Worry about yourself.

Its warm and sunny today...I guess schools will be closed tomorrow. The children might get sunburned at recess. Better safe than sorry!

This was a list of roads closed this morning WHILE SCHOOLS WERE CLOSED.

The eastbound lanes of E. Cone Boulevard between N. Church Street and Yanceyville Street are closed due to flooding. Barricades have been put in place to affect the closure.
The southbound lanes of US 29 at E. Market Street are closed due to flooding and a single-vehicle collision involving minor injuries.
Westridge Road between Double Oaks Road and just south of Westminster Drive is closed due to a tree and utility lines in the roadway. Duke Energy crews are on the scene.
All lanes of Yanceyville Street at E. Cornwallis Drive are closed due to flooding. Motorists are asked to avoid this area.
Due to a down tree, utility poles and one transformer on the road—Dexter Avenue is closed between W. Gate City Boulevard and Wildwood Drive.
Both lanes of Plainfield Road near the 600 block are closed.
S. Elm-Eugene Street from I-40 to Creek Ridge Road is closed.
Industrial Avenue from S. Elm-Eugene Street to Executive Drive is closed.
Martin Luther King Drive from Patton Ave to I-40 is closed.
Latham Road from W. Wendover Avenue to Meadowbrook Terrace is closed.
N. Spring Street at W. Fisher Avenue is closed to due to a utility line across the road

And that's just Greensboro...had same problems in the rest of the county.
