Greetings. Looking at a move to Greensboro. Family of 5 with oldest being 9 years old. First and foremost, we are looking for great schools; one of our kids has special needs.
Looking for a close-knit neighborhood with lots of families and kids. Social neighborhood. Community pool. Also would like 10 to 15 minute proximity to Friendly Center. Close to good gym with spin studio. Budget is $750,000.
2 suggestions:
1. Do some research on specific schools and programs available for your child. You can start here: https://ncreportcards.ondemand.sas.c...ounty=Guilford Once you decide which school(s) you're interested in, you can use that attendance zone as a way to narrow down your neighborhood choices.
2. Once you've decided on schools, get a good realtor to find houses in specific neighborhoods.
One observation: the most highly rated schools are in the northwest and northern suburbs of the city (Oak Ridge, Summerfield). These areas are more than 10 to 15 minutes from Friendly shopping center.
I grew up in Green Valley. We walked to Friendly Shopping Center and to the pool. If you need a realtor, who was my next door neighbor there, message me.
I'm not so sure. When a newcomer says they want "great schools", I don't think Sternberger, Kiser and Grimsley are what they're looking for. They're good, but not great. And there aren't true community pools like what I think the OP has in mind. I like GV, and I'd live there, but I don't *think* its what the OP is looking for. They should check it out for themselves and see. Maybe check out Starmount Forest too, although the community pool is a country club.
I grew up in Sunset Hills along Greenway Park. Walked to Friendly Center. Very family oriented, older neighborhood. We belonged to Friendly Park Pool (private), also very family friendly. I think I got a great education at Grimsley (have a PhD). There are a number a homes for sale now that might meet your criteria.
