Hi. I just returned from being with a realtor. I'm visiting my son here in the triad area of NC. I'm interested in moving in the triad area to be closer to my son.
I live in S Florida now. I don't have any family there. I'm a recent widow. So I'm thinking I rather be near family.
I loved Greensboro. I saw many townhouses and one was so nice I would have put in a bid but I first have to sell Florida. I was so impressed with this city, when I return I think I'm ready to put my condo on the market.
So what is there to do for a 65 year old widow? I have an idea of what I plan on perusing, but would like to know from others personally how senior friendly is Greensboro.
I will keep in touch with the realtor now that she knows what I like.
Neighborhoods have community pools. I go to the downtown Y to swim. The pool there is indoors.
I know people who go dancing, and I'll ask them.
The Carolina Theater has nice events.
There are tons of day trips you could do, depending on your interests. I like Hanging Rock for a nice view and Saxapahaw for lunch. The NC Art Museum in Raleigh has excellent exhibits.
Do you go to church? I don't but the local churches have activities for seniors. I'm still working, and I have friends from high school. We go to dinner sometimes, and that's all I do, haha.
So, a church community will be a good way for you to make friends. It's not hard. People here, in my experience, are nice.
