Charlotte and Raleigh already have Carvana tower machines. North Carolina's third location will be in Greensboro. Technically it's not a dealership. You purchase your car online, it's delivered then you are given a token and you pick up your car like getting candy out of a vending machine.
Construction is well under way with Carvana in Greensboro off of I-40. You can see the vending machine tower rising now.
So thats what that is... interesting that it's pretty much in a business park. And there is a urban apartment complex...pet hospital...movie theature in the office park.
Pretty cool. I recently purchased from Carvana. Great experience! I had the option of having it delivered or picking it up from the Raleigh location. Luckily, if you're within a certain range of one of their locations, delivery is free.
I would think the land value would have to be pretty high to justify the costs (engineering, mechanical and insurance, etc.) associated with this type of structure. So Greensboro has "arrived." Unfortunately, I can't read the article because it's behind a paywall.

According to other articles this will be the last Carvana to be built in North Carolina in the foreseeable future. Looks like they wanted one location in each of the big three metros in the state. Its pretty cool though. There aren't a lot of them in the country but that will change because they are aggressively expanding nationwide.

Yes, indeed. This will be an interesting process to see in operation.
"Luckily, if you're within a certain range of one of their locations, delivery is free" I am 90 miles from Richmond, 75 miles from Raleigh, they have delivered free of charge twice. Both times, the car was just as advertised, last time they bought the first car back for a fair price. Love the entire process....I'd rather have a root canal than go to a car lot. Time is money, my time saved from the car lot experience, translates to a slightly higher price paid to Carvana....but it's a wash as far as I'm concerned. I like shopping from the comfort of my favorite chair....others may like the cat and mouse game at the car lot.

I know. Many people don't like being hassled. You can't even walk around the lot at Carmax to just look at cars without a salesperson escorting you around.
