"The 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum from March 9 through March 13.The ACC and the Greensboro Coliseum announced the move on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The 2021 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament had been scheduled to be played at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to change the venue to Greensboro."
Thats in addition to the 2023 Tourney being held in G'boro.
Also, look like next spring will be a busy one for the G'boro Coliseum, if covid cooperates:
"(Coliseum Director Matt) Brown also said, “The 2021 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament will join the 2021 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, the 2021 ACC Women’s and Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships and 2021 NCAA Women’s and Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships to create a dynamic spring calendar of elite sporting events coming to ‘Tournament Town’ next spring.”
I doubt that this will happen, for the exact same reasons that were given for changing the tournament location from Washington, DC to Greensboro.
Based upon everything that I’ve read on this subject, COVID-19 will not be “cooperating” in early March of 2021. It should start “cooperating “ during the latter part of 2021 if the best case scenario occurs, which is the widespread distribution of an effective vaccine. Even then, each vaccine will require two doses and an approximate six week period before it becomes fully effective in preventing / treating the disease in one’s body.

Yeah, schools are having trouble even playing the first games of the season. Playing tournaments next March seems like a pipe dream.
I mentioned this when the pandemic started. Some said it wouldn't happen and theyd stick to the schedule to move to the city announced for 2021. So looks like I was right. Hopefully by then covid will be more under control and vaccines will have been distributed enough to allow massive crowds in sports arenas. If not they'll delay it again for Greensboro in 2022 which would give Greensboro back to back years being that Greensboro is also scheduled to host the tournament in 2023. Time will tell.

Does this mean that the ACC and Matt Brown think that covid-19 has been “cured” in Greensboro, or is it that North Carolina is more stupid than Washington, DC ? The ACC had a reason to move “on the fly” in March 2020 when the virus was first taking off, but not in November 2020.

Yep! Washington DC knows that attendance will be limited so they offered to kick the can down the road to a time when the pandemic would be far behind us and they could get the maximum benefit of having the tournament.
Greensboro has nothing to lose by taking the tournament. Worst case, it'll be a no-attendance tournament.

This wasn't some benevolent gift from the ACC.
In addition... if for some reason the ACC tournament has to be delayed... Greensboro has the scheduling flexibility that DC doesn't because their arena is home to both the Wizards and the Capitals.

I don’t think that anything is going to happen in March 2021. Please see my previous post. “ACC Tourney - March Madness” will return in 2022.
