I would like to take my 6 & 9 year old children to Wet & Wild this summer. We would probably make it a day trip from Durham. Can anyone give me tips on when to come, when to avoid. We will probably pick a weekday. Should we get there before it opens?
Also, my kids like the medium water slides. The ones that are too slow for teenagers but to fast for the non-swimmer set. Are there ones that might fit this description?
Any suggestions on what elementary aged kids would like is much appreciated.

Thanks.
It's summer so it'll be crowded every day but weekdays will probably be a little less so. Tuesday-Thursday would probably be your best bet since more people might be inclined to take off Monday or Friday for a long weekend. The earlier you get there is better but there's no need to show up before it opens and you can get a full day out of it. Also, be on the lookout for coupons in grocery stores and online.
There are rides and attractions for people of all ages there and your kids should have no problem finding rides that are appropriate for them.

It was just called Emerald Pointe and before that Water Country USA. I don't remember what else it's been known as.
When the park first opened is was called Aqua Gardens, good memory Cohaagen, then followed by Water Country USA, and Emerald Pointe as stated by RaleighJeff.
I went there when it was Aqua Gardens and haven't returned since.
Ironically the name Aqua Gardens is similar to Busch Gardens. BTW Busch Gardens was originally planned just down the road from Wet 'n Wild where Grandover is today. When the land deal went sour, plans changed and the brewery and theme park were built in Williamsburg, VA instead of Greensboro. Thats an interesting fact most people don't know.
