Bucees could be coming to Mebane. The site is centrally located between the Triad and Triangle but technically is in the Triad. The gas station at the store will feature 120 gas pumps. The location is just over 20 miles from the eastern edge of Greensboro

Excellent! That'll be a great stop for trips to and from Raleigh. I figured they were coming at some point. Glad that time is near.

The Triad Business Journal reports that the Triad Bucees will be the largest in the United States. This is a convenient store which will be larger than the Publix I'm Burlington. Buc-ee's is well known for their Texas brisket sandwiches, fudge bar and other tasty prepared foods.

Actually just discovered that this will be the largest gas station in the world when it opens.

I was curious, so I looked up the latest AADT available (2021), it was 125,000 right before the interchange where this gas station might end up. That's probably the best location in the state for one of these gas stations in terms of traffic volume AND available land for something that massive.

Grotesque?

While yes its essentially "just" a gas station, they also bring a fair number of jobs and pay VERY well. In 2018 for instance, they were STARTING people at $14/hr (back when it was still "cool" to pay like $8-9/hr) and include real benefits.

On a quick glance, it looks like they pay $17/hr minimum now. Still pretty good considering $11-12/hr is still pretty standard.

On top of all that, Im looking forward to the brisket and other goods. I'll give it a few weeks to die down once it opens though.

It is grotesque. A giant fossil fuel gas station. Why do folks get excited about the "worlds largest fossil fuel gas station?"

Its a lot more than just a gas station. The place has a following for a number of reasons including the food particularly the Texas brisket sandwiches and fudge bar
