Has anyone put these in your home recently, and if so, who did you use and how happy are you with them? Could you give a ballpark figure on how much you spent/window. We are thinking about putting them in our new home - but not sure if we can afford them.

We built a new home last year and were quoted $450+/_ per window. Carolina blind did the estimate. We ended up getting the two-inch wide faux wood blinds instead.

I have them in my house- we got the faux wood ones because they had a smooth finish and were a)cheaper, and b) easier to dust (we had some real wood ones that were rough). Ours totally came from Lowe's and we've been very happy with them. Unless you want the Shutter style (the ones that cover the whole window and open like doors) I would suggest your local home improvement center. They were not that hard to put up and much cheaper.

Default Got a great quote

For any of you out there needing shutters/blinds, I just got a quote from Kelly at The Louver Shop. He is putting plantation shutters (wood) in my DR, GR, Kitchen and Breakfast room and 2 1/2 in blinds in the rest of the house (3 bedrooms and a loft - for less than $2300. That includes installation.

Careful with the real wood ones... the moisture and sun warps them over time.
