Sounds like this will be a really cool addition to the downtown scene. I happen to know the owners and they are good people, so I do hope it's very successful.

This is awesome news. The "city of the arts" really needed this great addition. My husband and I immediately noticed after moving here that our local cineplex theaters only seemed interested in showing the big blockbusters. We were shocked when even a movie like Slumdog Millionaire finally started showing months later at one of the theaters. I can't wait for this to open.

Default Downtown Theatre

Great news for downtown Winston Salem! Here in Roanoke a local theatre called "The Grandin" was revitalized (in a residential part of town) and it led to more businesses, shops, moving in so it does stimulate growth. People go to a movie and then dine, etc. I am sure it will be a big hit. I will say though it is not easy to maintain funding for such an enterprise without local support. Hopefully, the local business community will support the new theatre
as independent films don't attract the huge crowds. To make up for the deficit The Grandin has a small cafe instead of the usual popcorn, coke stuff.
Good Luck and I hope to come visit when it opens!

Sounds like what we have in Uptown Charlotte.

Epicentre Theatre (Movato)...where you can have a very nice meal, mixed drinks...and NO one under 18 is allowed after 7pm...7 nights a week. VERY good concept to get away from kids!

Fabuous news for downton W-S!

I work in downtown W-S and it has really been improved over the last few years. There is still a lot of work to be done, but maybe when they FINALLY finish the new ballpark it will begin to improve further with new business and places to live.

Here's a link to the website for the theater: Aperture Cinema

Click on the blog link in the lower left hand corner to get progress updates. They hope to open around the first of the year. I think it's gonna be really cool!
