Old Salem Museums & Gardens has teamed up with Smithsonian Magazine to offer free admission to the historic museums on Saturday, Sept. 26, as part of the magazine’s nationwide Museum Day event!

Visitors can get can fill out a form online at smithsonianmag.com/museumday to receive their admission card, which is good for free general admission to Old Salem for two people. An All-in-One ticket to Old Salem Museums & Gardens is usually $21 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-16, so come enjoy this amazing opportunity!

They normally charge admission? Don't they get something like $10-12 million/year in public funds?

Very cute little place to walk around and you need to go to either Ollie's bakery or Winkler's bakery for some good Moravian cookies/lbread! If you are hungry for lunch it is also nice to eat at Old Salem Tavern. Reasonable prices for decent food, not as big as a tourist trap like I thought it would be. I liked the Moravian chicken pie.

[LEFT]As a private nonprofit living history museum with a 501(c)(3) designation, Old Salem does recieve public funds, but not anything close to that amount. FYI, here are the offcial numbers:

Of last year's fundraising total of $1.9 million raised, approximately $47,500 came from the City of WS plus about $20,000 from the state (for electric vehicles). These were the results of grant submissions.
