My husband and I just moved to High Point from Lancaster, NY (a suburb of Buffalo) and we couldn't be happier!! Is it premature to decide? I've been reading many threads about how horrible High Point is. Maybe it's just where we are here. As much as I love Buffalo it is a dying area. It breaks my heart to say that. Most of the surrounding areas are tired looking and dirty, and that's in the best of areas. We don't get that feeling here at all. It's very refreshing and new!! Please let me know your thoughts!! Thank you!!!

P.S. Go Sabres!!!

It depends what you are looking for. High Point is geared towards the elite & families, which is fine if you happen to be one of those. If not you will find yourself venturing outside the city for activities/facilities that cater to singles/childless/empty nesters.

We are in our 30's and have a feline daughter. We really love the outdoors and were real happy to see that there is many parks close by not mentions the Appalachain Trail not too far away and the beaches are approximately 4hrs away. Very appealing to us!! So far so good!!

Very true, it's wonderful having the coast and the mountains within a half-day distance. That's what I love about the triad.
And as long as you don't mind driving for variety, living in High Point may never bother you.
However as a life long resident, seeing the lack of progress and amenities has finally got the best of me. I figure if I'm going to aquire most my needs from neighboring cities, may as well move there.
BTW, we have 3 canine kids.
