I've always hit the local liquor and grocery stores for moving boxes. The grocery stores usually have some pretty heavy duty boxes that fruits and vegetables are shipped in, and a lot of them have both tops and bottoms.
2nd freecycle...you can place a wanted ad and you'll probably get more responses than you can deal with. Stores are a wonderful source too...everything on their shelves came in a box but you do have to get to some of them quick before they tear them apart. Staples or Office Max would be a great source too...if you can get those cases from copy paper.
Craigslist is a good place to look as well. I have seen many ads under the Free listing in the past...
