Cool! I just hope THIS one actually comes to fruition, or if it does, that is hasn't been downsized significantly by the time it's completed.

This looks a lot like the revised Peacock Hotel design in that it is a midrise building with the spire rising above. Hopefully it will be better planned and better financed than the Peacock. Knowing Hughes, it will be.

I like this and think it will be good for the West End.

Has construction actually started, or are they still preparing the site for construction by demolition of existing structures? Either way, it sounds like a potential winner.

And hopefully everyone will simply ignore the imminent political post by "you-know-whom" so this thread will not be closed like a few others he has tainted recently.

In my opinion it sounds like construction has started due to the fact financing is complete and a general contractor has been selected. It also has a completion timeline of 12 months from now which is actually fairly fast. The Courtyard by Marriott project took around 2 years to build.

But our tax dollars are paying for it.

Beautiful building....I see the taxpayer is helping build it, sure hope he can repay the loan:

Developer Phil Hughes has begun work on a seven-story building in downtown Greenville that uses government-assisted financing to provide affordable apartments he envisions will enhance the artistic ambience of a prime city location.
