WASHINGTON, D.C. – With only 1-in-5 children in the U.S. currently living within walking distance of a park or playground, 151 cities and towns, including Greenville, earned recognition from national non-profit KaBOOM! as 2011 Playful City USA communities for their efforts to increase play opportunities for children.

Awesome! One think I liked about Canada was the large number of parks and playgrounds within walking distance. I'm glad to see that Greenville is embracing a similar idea. Anything that keeps kids safe and active is a good thing.
Greenville's arrangement should only improve, as well. The Legacy Park at Vedae just opened (well, officially became a part of the City's Parks Dept) and the City continues to move forward on clearing the way for the HUGE West End Park. Furthermore, the trail system continues to expand.

Any updated news on the West End park? I would think once that park is in place, Greenville would be at the top of the parks rankings. (parks per capita).
