Clemson University is building high-end apartments as part of a $123.5 million student village that will accommodate students studying at a nearby technical college planning to transfer to Clemson.

Upperclassmen and graduate students will fill 700 beds at the apartments. Students participating in the Bridge to Clemson program will fill an additional 700 beds, said Gerald Vander Mey, director of university planning and design.

That's a BIG chunk of change, esp. for Clemson... Is there more to the development besides the apartments?

Yes. Retail and restaurants will be included within the development. Barnes & Noble has already signed on according to the news article.

University housing. It's on at the old Douthit hills site. I just graduated from Clemson last May and they are in desperate need for on campus apartments and high end would be the way to go. I know plenty of students who are upperclassmen who wouldn't mind living on campus if there were nice apartments with all the amenities of off campus apartments (actual kitchen, multiple bathrooms, etc). Plus this will be an easy walk to downtown.
