Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning to attend this year's Artisphere. We'll be visiting the area from Philly. We've stayed downtown before at the Hyatt, but the hotel has informed me that the parking garage that's attached to their complex is public and not owned by the hotel. Therefore, parking for us, even though we'll be guests of the hotel, is not guaranteed. My question is: How crazy does the parking get around downtown during Artisphere? I know the Hyatt is a bit of a walk from the festival site, but does the parking garage there fill up that weekend? We're also planning to tour the Dillard-Jones Show House at River Reserve ... so far it looks amazing (pics on their facebook page).
Any comments about parking or Artisphere in general would be appreciated. We absolutely LOVE Greenville and can't wait to visit again! Thanks!
That parking garage is not likely to fill up unless there happens to be a conference at the Hyatt or second major event at the Bi-Lo center at the time you arrive. Most of the Artisphere daytime attendees will start filling the other parking lots closer to the displays first. It's an easy walk to the Artisphere festival from the Hyatt.
You may want to ask what stage the Hyatt renovations will be in at that point. If they have no restaurant open or if a lot of the hotel is blocked off for renovations it could impact the quality of your stay.
I don't think I've ever seen any of the parking garages fill up. In all of my downtown excursions, there has always been a place to park. Plus, I don't think the Hyatt is one of the preferred garages since the others feel more spacious and have easier access.
The garages get pretty full during the major downtown events, like Artisphere and Fall for Greenville. It's not just a weekend of normal downtown business. It gets pretty hectic, but not impossible.
