The attached release might or might not shed some more light on the upcoming announcement. The Anderson announcement might involve more than the 125 jobs the company had already announced.
Regardless it is good news for Anderson County. Yes we need more diverse and different economic development but this is good news. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth LOL
Okay, let me rephrase what I said. It'd be nice if we had a new company come, that wasn't just replacing a company that left a year or two before (hence something that's a net gain instead of net balance) and isn't a low skill, likely low paying, manufactoring job. I appreciate quantity, but we need a higher quantity, and much higher 'quality'.
I agree. I've been inside every Michelin facility in this area and I'm here to tell you the air quality is deplorable, the Anderson US2 facility being the worst. I was told that carbon black won't harm the respiratory system by a company executive, . I've seen people come out of this plant that looked like they slid down a chimney.

Bull...it can immediately cause coughing and irritation, and long term exposure can cause cancer, lung disease, or blocking of the longs...not to mention what could happen if you have a pre-existing condition or allergic reaction. What's worse is no one has mentioned anything about this before anywhere...I would consider that a fairly decent piece of information.

Yes - it is a lung irritant in sufficient concentrations, but not a known carcinogen. Based on all workers in rubber facilities the world over, this is a large population, so the science is known. The general exposure even inside the Anderson plant is generally well below the level of lung irritation, except for specific tasks which would undoubtedly require a full protective suit. Carbon black gets into every crevice however, so this is why even tiny quantities will smear clothes.

Emissions must comply with EPA standards.
Thank you. Michelin has an Industrial Hygiene Lab and regularly tests in all its facilities and complies with all local and federal requirements.
