I am moving to Jonesville Rd/Five Forks area in the next few weeks, and choosing a good cable/internet company is obviously very important.

We understand that ATT Uverse is not an option, and we are aware of Charter and issues people seem to have with them. With that said what is our best option? I know this question comes up often, but I haven't seen a recent update on it.

Also any suggestions on a good gym close by this area?

Love the Greenville area and am very excited to move there! Thanks in advance.

If you're looking in a new development, use caution. There are lots of neighborhoods there that Charter does NOT serve, and you are going to be stuck with DSL at best.

The best you're going to get in that area is Charter- but call and confirm with them that your area is serviceable.

Even with all the complaints Charter is your best service if you can get it. If it helps, I haven't had to call to complain to Charter in several months for connection problems.

I agree. I telecommute so reliable high-speed Internet is essential. We've been on Charter for the nearly 4 years we've lived in Greenville and have rarely had any reportable outages or issues.

As for gyms, you have many choices at several different price points and service levels. For full service plus tennis, swimming, etc, the YMCA has a nearby branch as well as Sportsclub. If you only need "bare-bones," I highly recommend Fitness 19 at the corner of Woodruff and Hwy. 14. It does get busy between 5:00 and 7:00 pm on most week nights but it's bearable. They have a good assortment of strength machines and free weights... and a bunch of treadmills, stair climbers, bicycles and ellipticals. The gym is clean and equipment is well-maintained. We pay $27 per month for two people plus a nominal annual fee.

I'm in that area and Charter is my only option for internet so that might help you decide. :-)

There's a gym on Scuffletown Rd. beside Publix. It's called Sportsclub.

Talked with the previous owner of home and he had Dish and Charter for internet, so we at least know Charter is an option. Right now Charter is offereing $79.98/12 mos for HD box, DVR, express internet for 12 months, modem, no contract required. Figure thats a pretty good deal if I can lock it in in the future. Havent checked to see what it will be after 12 months...guess thats where the threatening to leave/haggling comes in at :/

Also thanks for the gym recommendations We both have varying work hours 10-14 hour long days so we would not be at gyms during prime time likely. But the bare bones type gym is what we would be looking for (weight lifting/running).

All help is welcomed as I will continue to research this. Thanks!

Second the 5forks Sportsclub recommendation, can be a bit packed at prime time but its a good facility, also has a mini daycare center to watch kids for a few hours.

Charter will now let you lock in a new rate when your expiration arrives. They didn't used to do that.
