I never understand the hate on Haywood's exterior either. Sure, I used to not like it, but I kind of like it now. I think it really suits it. If they renovate the exterior, then they have to renovate the interior. Why? Because a white exterior would definitely not look very good with their upscale cabin sort of feel (maybe not exactly, but they do have lots of wood, the hardwood floor, etc.)
That wouldn't exactly be a bad thing, but I do think it has a much more unique look than most malls do now.
Usually I go 5-6 times per year. This year I have only been once. There are less and less reasons to go there now. First, our Belk "upscaled", so many of the brands that were only at Haywood are now at our Belk. Maybe not St. John, but that isn't exactly in our budget anyway. Then A&F closed. I love Sephora, but I'm not going to drive over an hour for just one store. All that combined with going to Charlotte more is why I've only been once this year, and will probably only go once more this year. I do know I want to go down for the Sephora opening, however.

I'm sorry, but the interior (great) and exterior (horrid) are incongruent. If they want to go for an old-school mall look, then fine - DO IT PROPERLY. Also, I URGENTLY repeat my earlier remarks re: the condition of the parking lot. LOVE the mix of stores/brands at Haywood, but think the rest of the package needs to be brought up to that speed.

I go to the food court and see how many laps of free samples of orange teriyaki chicken I can get before I get the "No Chicken For You!" look.

Agree 100%. Painting brick is never a good thing especially when the brick doesn't look bad in the first place. I liked the stacked stone mall entrances and the lodge looking food court entrance is one of the best ones I have seen. Nothing wrong with Haywoods exterior other than it coud use some new landscaping and maybe new signage with some stacked stone.
