I love when the posters from Greenville come into the Augusta forum. They can't pick on Augusta similar to Columbia, because we have the majority of national retailers.. The friendly rivalry is good for all of the cities, and let's see what you guys in Greenville can attract next...

The two malls were comparable, but not anymore. The Augusta mall was already the most upscale mall in Georgia, and now it's going to become the most upscale mall in South Carolina(Augusta MSA) too...

H&M was announced a few months ago, and now there's word the rumors of Michael Kors(boutique) are true. Stride Rite is also coming, and the House of Hoops/Victoria Secret Pink store are under construction.

Augusta Mall is definitely not the most upscale mall in Georgia. That would be Phipps Plaza followed by Lenox Square.

H&M is cool but not exactly upscale. Haywood Mall is getting Forever 21 which is about the same.

How's the food court, Haywood mall is terrible considering the stores that are out there.

I completely agree that Haywood Mall is lackluster - especially for the Upstate's metro population. Because of Simon's lack of investment in Haywood, Greenville's retail core is now split into 4 areas: Magnolia Park (which may eclipse Haywood one day in it's upscale national retail offerings), downtown Greenville/West End (now with the addition of Anthropologie, Brooks Brothers, Tupelo Honey, etc), The Point/Shops at Greenridge, and Haywood Mall. I suppose the "Augusta Road" area could be a 5th retail center as well. With sound, forward-thinking property development (in other retail areas of Greenville), Haywood could be in real trouble in the next decade.

With the exception of its entrances, the aesthetic appeal of Haywood's exterior is awful. The interior is fair - I see that Sears is finally making some much needed updates. The food court is also just average - the only standout is Showmar's which is an excellent local chain from Charlotte.

I guess I just do not understand the allure of a mall.

Augusta Mall is the busiest mall from a foot traffic standpoint that I have seen in the southeast.

I think Haywood mall looks fine from the outside.

Yep, and Augusta has a better golf course. Big. Freaking. Deal.

This is about Greenville, SC developments for Greenville, SC residents. The enormity of "F's" we do NOT give about Augusta is mind-boggling.
