I think a big improvement to folks driving into Greenville on I-385 would be to do more landscaping around the overpasses too. Maybe this is something they will do later after all the road construction is done.
When driving up I-26 up toward Asheville/mtns. they have those pretty red flowers planted that look so pretty. It's makes quite an impression to the area.
Yep, they did a good job when they re-did I-385 inside I-85 several years ago. I thought that the Pleasantburg overpass was supposed to have some kind of decorative elements, though...(?) But you're right - I wish the SCDOT would spring for planting wild flowers like they do in NC.
For first time visitors to the area this is an AWESOME first impression. One of the things I still remember and like from my first time visiting the area.

It's not SCDOT, it's the voters. You get what you pay for. You can't brag about having lower taxes than NC, then expect more services.

That's true, although in this case it has been funded by local citizens through visionary leadership within Greenville's city and county governments. I prefer the trees over the flowers in this setting. Both would be great, but perhaps not financially feasible.
