I know the younger grades will have supply lists at stores. Any where to find out the general supplies that high schoolers will need? I don't see anything on our high school website.
My son's high school (Eastside) does not provide supply lists in advance. The students get their books and gym clothes at orientation before school starts and the teachers provide supply lists on the first day of class. There doesn't seem to be the same mad dash to get supplies here as we have encountered in other states.
It's pretty much the same at Mauldin as Eastside. Generally, you can be safe buying notebook paper and pens/pencils. Each teacher has a separate supply list and those aren't handed out until the kids attend each class. We usually end up buying a 3-ring binder for each class but which size isn't known ahead of time. Beware that buying 3-ring binders after school starts can be difficult to find the size requested.
Although I don't live in Greenville ,as the parent of 2 kids through hs and now in college I have learned it is better to wait till the first day of class . Regardless of lists or web postings the best info comes direct from the teacher. Many times we bought things we didn't need and also returned to the store to buy things that weren't on the original list. Keep in mind though that there will likely be lines at Walmart and Staples after day one of school. Of course on day one they should have a notebook of some kind and a pencil and pen.
Thanks...good info!! We are public school newbies, haha so unsure how it all works...trying to do as much research as possible so we at least look like we have a clue!
Here is a link to the Greenville County School website that list school supplies for high school level. Supply Lists for Back To School
That's just a general list especially for high school. Teachers will let students know what size 3-ring binders are needed. Some will need 3" while others will need 2" or less. Especially in an environment where you go to a different classroom for each class the only place to store these items is in a locker and sometimes students don't get access to these on the first day of school.
