Coming from a state where every county has a fair I am just wondering why Greenville or Spartanburg do not have one? In Indiana it's at the county fair level that 4-H projects are chosen to go on to compete at the state fair, but apparently it's done differently here. In fact, does 4-H exist here?
there is the Upper SC state fair every year at the Greenville Pickens speedway, its rather small, but I had fun this past year when my wife and I went.
The two biggest fairs in upstate South Carolina are Upper South Carolina State Fair, already mentioned in Easley, and Piedmont Interstate Fair, in Spartanburg.
I think 4H would exist in the northern and southern areas of Greenville County, which are the only remaining rural areas of the county.
If anybody wants to see a little bit of "the way it used to be" come out to the Simpsonville City park tomorrow for the South Greenville Fair. See some tractors and pet some animals. There are some great folks that help put this on each year just to keep the past alive. Simpsonville host 50th year of South Greenville Fair

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I did not see it in time so we missed it, but maybe next year.
It was kinda cool. Old tractors, hit and miss engines, cows, goats, chickens, rabbits, and roosters. Of course there was boiled peanuts and home made ice cream. Put it on your calendar for next year. Always around the 2nd or 3rd weekend in September. Have a good week.
